Chasity Colón was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, within a Puerto Rican family stricken with poverty and adversity. Despite her hardships, Chasity has remained very ambitious and dedicated to pursuing her dream of becoming a successful and established artist. She has worked endlessly to develop her artistic skills while maintaining a high GPA in school. Other than Parsons SPACE, Chasity involved herself in numerous extracurricular activity programs such as the Cooper Union Saturday Art Program, New York Transit Museum Teen Tech Program, Metropolitan Museum of Art Summer Intensives, and most notably Pratt DICE. She has remained a consistent member of DICE for three years, which landed her in a paid internship in the summer of 2008 with Pratt Summer Design and the DICE Alumni Network. Chasity has attained many accolades and has had her work displayed in several art galleries in and outside of school, such as the Ralph J. Sansone Foundation Art Competition/Exhibition, and the Haven Arts Salad Days Art Gallery which took place in the Bronx. Chasity graduated from Brooklyn High School of the Arts, and was the first in her immediate family to receive a high school diploma. She has consistently volunteered through New York Cares for three years, helping others with various knitting and crochet projects. Chasity is now a student at Parsons The New School for Design and plans to excel and become the first in her family to graduate from college. |
